Artist Statement

For me painting is always autobiographical. Choosing to paint in a psychological sense rather than directly from life. This allows me a freedom to explore and experiment. To investigate my experiences by altering and collaging found imagery, as well as historical paintings. Creating layered compositions and narratives that express relatable feelings. Self portraits that explore recurring themes, thoughts and personal dilemmas. 

Artist Bio

Brandon Aguiar holds a BFA from the Art Institute of Boston. Aguiar makes figurative paintings and drawings that explore narrative through a wide variety of techniques and historical references. Utilizing duality in his paintings subject matter and approach to how to make a painting. 

Aguiar has had multiple exhibitions in the Boston and Providence area. With works in private collections located in Boston, Dallas, Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Brandon Aguiar is represented by MRKT Gallery and lives and works in Providence Rhode Island.
